What the heck is blue light and why should I be 'blocking' it?
We don't want you to get the wrong idea, blue light isn't 'bad' for you, it's just unwanted and unnecessary during certain parts of the day.
Blue light is the artificial light emitting from the screens on your phones, tv's, tablets, computers, indoor lights, and the list goes on.
Now what exactly are we trying to protect against artificial blue light? That would be your circadian rhythm, which is the 24-hour cycle that your body goes through, waking up in the morning, staying awake during the day, and falling asleep at night.
Being exposed to artificial blue light won't kill you, but it does present a lot of negative symptoms that are easily avoidable by wearing blue light blocking glasses at least 4 hours before going to bed.
Symptoms of being overexposed to artificial blue light are:
- trouble falling asleep
- racing thoughts when trying to fall asleep
- swollen, dry, or irritated eyes
- lack of energy during the day due to lack of sleep
- migraines
It's 2022 and there's no avoiding phones, tv's, laptop screens, etc., nor should you. We just want to help you best utilize your time and protect yourself while doing it.
Are there different strengths of blue light blocking lenses?
Absolutely! And if you've tried blue light blocking glasses elsewhere and haven't been satisfied, that's probably because they didn't have a strong enough coating. Our blue light blocking lenses offer the highest protection available on the market!
What's the difference between fashion tint lenses and polarized sunglasses?
We're so excited to now offer fashion tint glasses in addition to our popular polarized sunglasses.
Our fashion tint lenses are for 'show' and offer little to no UVA/UVB protection against the sun. These work best to elevate an outfit or a unique flare to prescription glasses. Yes, you read that right, you can get your Rx prescription in any of our fashion tint colors!
Our polarized sunglasses are all UVA/UVB polarized and offer maximum protection against the suns rays.
Do yellow, amber, and orange lenses naturally block artificial blue light?
Yes, they do! However, it's not as strong as the clear blue light coating we put on our glasses, which is why we consider them to be apart of our 'fashion tint' collection and not our 'blue light blocking' collection.
Why are your glasses made from acetate and not plastic?
Great question :)
The eyewear industry (especially luxury brands) is dominated with plastic frames, which are not only flimsy and 'cheap', but they're also terrible for the environment. In comes acetate...
Our frames are made from Italian Acetate, a renewable resource that is both light weight and extremely durable. Now that's a combo worth wearing! Not to mention Acetate is hypoallergenic, so it's perfect for anyone with sensitive skin/sensativity to plastic.
