First off, thanks for being here- Your curiosity in our small business alone is so exciting for us!
My name is Jeanne, a professional dancer turned stay-at-home-mother of two young girls and along with my husband, Will, we created Seven Oak Eyewear.
Will and I met at the University of Florida where his very successful collegiate football career, and my very short-lived journalism career, began. It wasn't until his transfer to West Virginia University that he was introduced to the harmful effects of blue light. The team was very much so wellness focused and handed out an absurd pair of goggles to the players. The athletes were told to wear the goggles while doing homework and binge-watching Netflix at night in order to keep their circadian rhythm steady. Will, willing to do whatever it took to be the best he could be, wore them every single night and saw the drastic benefits first-hand.
Fast forward a couple of years and Will, still wearing the absurd goggles daily, started thinking there should be a way he could wear them all day without compromising style. That's when Seven Oak Eyewear was born.
Will and I started designing frames based on classic styles we knew would best flatter different face shapes. Next, we promised ourselves we did not want to compromise our ethical beliefs in this pursuit and opted on making our frames with Eco-Acetate - a biodegradable, light weight, and ultra-durable material. From there, we researched lenses and polarization and made sure we only chose the best available.
...The rest is history! In all honesty, it's been super exciting starting our own business, especially one we feel so passionately about. We're so excited for what's to come and having a blast navigating our way through being first-time business owners! It's also shown us how rewarding it is to shop small where every sale is celebrated, and every customer is cherished!
